20/10 BEYOND RESEARCH: #3 Why start a company?
You have research, knowledge or an idea that could be useful beyond academia. Could starting a company be a way to take it further?
A company can provide a way to develop an idea, bring together the right people and resources, and eventually reach users. But not every research result needs a company, and starting one is not always the right first step.
In this session of Beyond Research, lawyer Samuel Isaksson will help you explore when starting a company makes sense and what you need to think through before taking that step.
Who should be involved? What does the company need in order to move the idea forward? Who owns the research results the company will build on? And how can being involved in a company work alongside your role as a researcher?
We will also touch on what starting a company involves in practice, but the main focus is on the questions and decisions that come before registration.
The aim is to give you a clearer picture of whether starting a company could be the right next step for you and your research, and what you need to consider before moving forward.
No prior knowledge is required. Bring your questions, join the discussion, and feel free to submit a question in advance through the registration form.
